A few days ago the kids and I went to Farnsworth Farms. It's just a short way from our house, situated on a main road between a neighborhood and an apartment complex. Anyway, we picked a cantaloupe, an eggplant, several tomatoes, and some apples. We also bought some peaches and plums from their fruit stands. They make fresh apple cider, so we got a couple of gallons of that, too. We even got to watch them make it. First, the apples get rinsed in a trough, then chopped up. The chopped up bits are sprayed through a big hose into an accordian looking thing and then super-squished so all the juice comes out. Then, gallon jugs are filled. We watched them put the lids on the jugs, rinse off any remaining stickiness, and put the jugs in the fridge. Then, we picked up one of the jugs out of the fridge, brought it home, and drank it. (You can also get pasteurized, if you want, but we just went with the "raw".) Randy loves it - it's the closest thing to eating fruit that he's ever done.
